Staff at Coventry Building Society’s head office are getting ready for their ‘Sleep Out’ tonight Friday 7 August, to raise money for local homeless charity Coventry Cyrenians.
The team of 20 staff will be spending the night sleeping outside their head office in Coventry, without tents or phones and with only sleeping bags and basic food items donated to them.
Hillz FM will be heading down to see the team this evening and find out how they are coping in the conditions without their normal comforts. we will be reporting back on this during Sweet P’s kaleidoscope show on Tuesday morning from 9am.
The ‘Sleep Out’ has been organised to raise money and awareness for Coventry Cyrenians, who the team
have been working with as their Community Partner since February this year, and who provide high-quality
services to homeless and vulnerably housed people in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Sam Vincent-Hunt from the Intermediary Support Team said: “We decided to do a ‘Sleep Out’ to get as many of our team involved as possible, to represent the charity and to give us an insight into the issues faced by homeless people on a daily basis. A colleague and I will be staying outside from 9am on Friday 7 August, with the rest of the team joining us at the end of their working day at 5pm. We’ll all then stay out until 9am the following morning, with the aim of raising awareness of the charity and the work they do”.
Laura Reynolds, Fundraising Manager at Coventry Cyrenians, said: “At Coventry Cyrenians, we help homeless and vulnerably housed people to restart their lives and take part in our additional services including training and apprenticeship programmes. All donations raised – including those that the Coventry are aiming to raise from their ‘Sleep Out’ – go towards the cost of providing services such as food parcels and home starter kits to people experiencing homelessness in Coventry and Warwickshire”.
