Hillz continued our partnership with the Coventry Peace Festival in November 2015 and engaged in a number of events in conjunction with the festival. 2015 marked 75 years since the start of World War 2, which devastated the city of Coventry during the blitz. As Coventry is the city of Peace and reconciliation, Hillz radio aimed to inform and promote the Coventry Peace Festival events, taking place around the city
Brunch Time Peace Show – Our very own Kate welcomed guests from around Coventry to share poetry, stories, thoughts and feelings about peace from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th November 2015 at 11.00am. Guests included poets from the twinned city of Cork, members of the community and new communities that have settled and made Coventry their home.
Inner Peace – WATCH offered a FREE workshop to the public every Thursday during the month of November to help people find inner peace. Through the workshop, people were given methods that they can use on a daily basis to help them de-stress and enable them to relax. They learned deep relaxation techniques, basic Indian Head Massage techniques and skills to build confidence.
Language of Peace Arts and Crafts – WATCH invited the people of Coventry to come and meet new people and be creative with a FREE Arts and Crafts Workshop of Peace. Using recycled materials, participants created cushions that depict words of Peace in different languages and in their own unique way
Expressions of Peace – The young people of Coventry came together to create a call for peace in their own special way. Expressions of Peace gave 10-19 year olds the chance to write something from the heart with a creative writing workshop
Hillz Fm plans to run these events during November of 2016 as the Peace Festivals returns. We’d like to extend our thanks to all who took part and helped to organised these events
