Fargo are getting ready to celebrate!!



As we approach our first birthday here at FarGo Village, we thought we’d share our plans to celebrate what has been a fabulous year.   Working in partnership with Imagineer Productions and The Far Gosford St Heritage Group, we will be hosting a community festival in true FarGo style on Saturday 26th September.

The festival is intended to attract both the local community and a new, diverse audience to Far Gosford Street and FarGo Village to embed and celebrate its great history, heritage and diversity. The festival, will focus on “living heritage” and visitors will learn about the street through a variety of artistic and creative activities. For more details on the daytime activities visit: http://www.fargovillage.co.uk/event/fargo-fused/


Some of the activities include: Fargo Blocco, 50 musicians & dancers from the local community will create a performance drawing upon the areas strong association with Ska music with bands of the 2 Tone genre such as The Specials and The Selector, performance installation combining arts & circus, a variety of music, music, fashion, food and creative arts.

Ian Harrabin, Director of CDP/Mazing, the developers of FarGo Village said “This festival is so important for Coventry, in addition to celebrating our 1st birthday this festival will form part of a strategic plan to build a genuine community festival which will engage local communities. It will also have an important legacy in the creation of a FARGO BLOCO – a new carnival project that can link to other city events such as Gay Pride and Godiva” He added “As the city is poised to bid for UK City of Culture 2021, FarGo Village, as part of the city’s vibrant independent arts and creative community, continues to offer a diverse cultural attraction which will enhance the city’s overall offer”

european unionFargo Village is a joint project between Coventry City Council and development partner Mazing Ltd and is part financed by European Regional Development Funds. The Community Festival is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
