At HillzFm we have been developing our young people’s project since 2004, a funded project which has been committed to help young people to be inspired, to go further in media, communications and gaining confidence. But this wouldn’t be possible without funding of BBC Children in Need who have funded this project for 9 years, which helps us to develop all the mechanisms of Young Hillz Takeover.
With the recent Children in Need appeal our Young People’s project was featured on BBC Midlands today, early in November after we were visited at Hillz FM studios – in this feature there is Jevin who is a beneficiary of the project and Tanya who has both been a beneficiary of the project and more recently mentored other young people on the project after graduating from university with a First honours BA in Radio.
We also had the chance to go over to Dudley to the appeal night on 18th November, where Jevin and WATCH representatives visited the old Radio Shop at the Black Country Museum, this was televised where Jevin was interviewed by Rebecca Wood and Ayo Akinwodere.
In the following link you can watch how this went
This is an amazing way to show how our young people are finding their way and gaining different skills with our project.
