Three years ago, a fabulous pop up gallery appeared in the old Coventry Evening Telegraph Building. Incredible art and music was showcased there as a result. Sadly, it had to come to an end. Happily however, above the Litten Tree pub in the city centre Bull Yard, there is currently in development another such wonderful art space.
The huge area that involves two massive floors was previously Intershop and before that the Rover Car showroom. So many Covvers will remember this place now being called the LTB, Litten Tree Building.
Alan Denyer and Craig Shanley are the creative force behind the project and are currently working really hard preparing the ground for art and music events. This art and music news blog will chart the progress of the LTB and you will see in the photographs how it is coming along so far. On going developments, art exhibitions and information about the artists, any music events etc will be listed here.
I can tell you there is already a fantastic black and white photography expo waiting to be viewed by the first visitors. Jake Bernard rediscovered negatives from his photographs taken way back in the Seventies. Capturing the culture of the time and involving a young Neville Staples amongst other characters, this nostalgia trip is perfect for the space it hangs in.
I personally can’t wait to watch this space come to life as an ubercool venue for all things perhaps overlooked by the longer established galleries. Cov has an incredible array of diverse musicians and artists and this venue has the potential to support them.
Please watch this space for further details.
