This year’s Hillfields Community Festival was a day full of music, food, activities, and above all: community. Neighbours, families, local services, and artists came together in the heart of Hillfields, and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better.
From live stage performances to stalls bursting with creativity and information, there was something for everyone. The feedback we’ve had has been amazing – people loved the welcoming vibe, the fantastic food, and the great mix of local talent and services. With performances ranging from local artists like The Trees, Journey To East, Nyotaa and Credo, Skatta and W4RP as well as very own The William Brothers, Irie B, DJ Liney and Eddie Goodtimes many of the festival-goers said the sets were the highlight of their day!
As one visitor put it: “Nice event with interesting stalls, original acts, the festival is well groovy!”
Our survey showed that Hillz FM is still a big part of Coventry life, with most people tuning in on FM or online. It was also brilliant to see so many people engaging with the local organisations on the day – from 18-year-olds to those 60+, the festival really brought people of all ages together. Big thank you to Harmony Hub, Warwick Art Centre, St Francis Employability, Job Shop, Health Watch Coventry, Coventry City Councils, Coventry Grows and The Highlife Centre for being there on the day and sharing the incredible work you do across the city!
During the event, we also had the pleasure of presenting our BRAND NEW HILLZ t-shirts designed entirely by the young people from our youth club “Young Hillz” which are available to buy from the WATCH Centre, 12 Victoria Street, CV1 5LZ. Behind the scenes, the festival was an extra special milestone for our coordinator, Cass. She first joined WATCH as a student in 2022, and is now the Training & Youth Development Officer and Station Manager at Hillz FM! She said:
“Festivals aren’t just about music, stalls, or fun (though we had plenty of that!). They’re about people coming together, connecting with each other, and celebrating the place they call home. And that’s the kind of magic I want to keep creating.”
