Hillz FM is celebrating the success of its recent Radio Drama Camp Week Pilot, which took place from 27th-31st July 2026 and gave local young people the opportunity to create, produce and perform their very own radio drama.
Delivered in partnership with CasteAway Arts and Media Mania, the week long pilot project introduced 10 young people to every stage of audio drama production. From scriptwriting to acting for audio, character development, voice performance, radio production and Foley sound design, working together to develop an original story from concept all the way to broadcast.
The result was a radio drama titled The Love of the Game, which premiered on Hillz FM on Saturday 8th August.
Created, written, performed and produced entirely by the young people involved, The Love of the Game takes listeners into the mysterious abandoned town of Everfield, where a search for a missing grandson soon takes a dark and unexpected turn. From the compelling storyline and performances to the atmospheric sound effects, the production showcased the creativity, imagination and teamwork of everyone involved.
Alongside producing the drama, the young people also created original artwork inspired by the story, adding another creative dimension to the project and helping bring the world of Everfield to life.

The project provided hands-on experience in radio and media production while helping young people develop valuable skills in communication, creativity, confidence and teamwork. Their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the week resulted in an entertaining production that was shared with listeners across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Hillz FM would like to thank the amazing staff at Caste Away Arts and Media Mania for their support and expertise, and congratulate all the young people who took part for their incredible hard work and achievements.
The project was made possible through support from Coventry City Council’s Made in Coventry Grant Awards 2026, helping local young people access creative opportunities, develop new skills and share their voices through community radio.
It was inspiring to see what the young people achieved in just one week!
